Boss Paul Jewell admits that he already has half an eye on next season as the Blues go to Crystal Palace on Saturday with the current campaign over from a competitive perspective. Despite this, the Town manager is keen to end 2011/12 on a high note.

David Nugent scored his usual goal at Portman Road as Leicester came from a goal behind to beat the Blues 2-1 and inflict their first home defeat since January 2nd. Jason Scotland put the Blues deservedly in front in the 43rd minute but soon after Ben Marshall’s freekick went through both wall and Arran Lee-Barrett with Nugent heading in the winner in a second half dominated by the visitors.

Blues boss Paul Jewell has made four changes to his side for this afternoon’s home game against Leicester. Ryan Stevenson makes his first start for Town, while Josh Carson, Lee Bowyer and Jason Scotland come in for Andy Drury, Lee Martin, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Michael Chopra.

Boss Paul Jewell says there’ll be no meaningless games between now and the end of the season despite Town’s campaign already appearing certain to end in another mid-table finish. The Blues face Leicester City at Portman Road today with the play-offs eight points away and seemingly out of reach.

Town legend Ray Crawford admitted that he had a tear in his eye when the current Blues side came over to applaud him and his fellow 1961/62 First Division champions moments before the start of Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Barnsley. Crawford, Andy Nelson, Larry Carberry, John Compton, Doug Moran and Ted Phillips were in the directors’ box having renamed the South Stand the Sir Alf Ramsey Stand in honour of their mentor.

Daryl Murphy’s fourth goal of his second loan spell with the Blues was enough to see Town to a 1-0 victory over Barnsley at Portman Road. The Irishman struck soon after half-time with the on-loan Celtic man and Lee Martin subsequently having good chances to add to the Blues’ lead, while Jay Emmanuel-Thomas struck the bar.
